Buena Vista Café
San Francisco, California
The historic venture started on the night of November the 10th in 1952. Jack Koeppler, then-owner of the Buena Vista, challenged international travel writer Stanton Delaplane to help re-create a highly touted “Irish Coffee” served at Shannon Airport in Ireland. Intrigued, Stan Accepted Jack’s invitation, and the pair began to experiment immediately.
Throughout the night the two of them stirred and sipped judiciously and eventually acknowledged two recurring problems. The taste was “not quite right,” and the cream would not float. Stan’s hopes sank like the cream, but Jack was undaunted. The restaurateur pursued the elusive elixir with religious fervor, even making a pilgrimage overseas to Shannon Airport.
Upon Jack’s return, the experimentation continued. Finally, the perfect-tasting Irish whiskey was selected. Then the problem of the bottom-bent cream was taken to San Francisco’s mayor, a prominent dairy owner. It was discovered that when the cream was aged for 48 hours and frothed to a precise consistency, it would float as delicately as a swan on the surface of Jack’s and Stan’s special nectar.
Success was theirs! With the recipe now mastered, a sparkling clear, six-ounce, heat-treated goblet was chosen as a suitable chalice. Soon the fame of the Buena Vista’s Irish Coffee spread throughout the land. Today, it’s still the same delicious mixture, and it’s still the same clamorous, cosmopolitan Buena Vista. Both…delightful experiences.
Napa Valley Burger Company
From the wine country decor and red brick walls to the gourmet burgers and fine wines, the Napa Valley Burger Company® experience is both appetizing and inviting. Bring your family and friends – there is something for everyone!
Sit back and take in the scenery, as the Napa Valley Burger Company® is in the oldest brick building in Sausalito! Built in 1885 by Fred Fiedler, it was known as “Fiedlers General Store.” During the 1940’s it became the “Glen Five and Ten.” In 1981 it opened as “Winships Restaurant” as a soda fountain and sweet shop, which later changed into a breakfast, lunch, and dinner house with a nautical theme. A larger kitchen was built in the back of the original single floor brick building along with a second floor clapboard addition. Thirty years later, in 2012 it was transformed into the “Napa Valley Burger Company®”.
Located in the heart of downtown, the Napa Valley Burger Company® brings a taste of the Napa Valley to historic Sausalito by the Bay. Come in, relax and enjoy our fine wines and gourmet burgers while reliving a part of history. We pledge to carry on the legacy of our past with a focus on good food and friendly service.

At Senia, we celebrate crossing paths and sharing Aloha. Our name is a play on the word “xenia”, the ideology of guest-friendship that defined the ancient Greek concept of hospitality. In a time when it was believed that gods walked amongst men, everyone was treated with the same courtesy and generosity. We are happy that your path crossed ours and we welcome you as friends.
Senia is built on a base of friendship with a mutual passion for hospitality, and we want to extend that to you. You are invited to come in, gather around a table in a comfortable and relaxed environment, and share delicious food, well-crafted drinks and a genuinely good time.
We have three different ways you can experience Senia. The main dining room is home to our casual, à la carte menu. Closer to our open kitchen, chefs Kajioka and Rush will host six to 12 people at the Chefs’ Counter. Offering a multi-course tasting menu, the Chefs’ Counter will take guests on an extensive gastronomic journey. Upstairs, our private dining room allows for a more intimate gathering for parties of eight or more.
Chef Chris Kajioka debuts a new restaurant in partnership with San Francisco-based chef Mourad Lahlou, called Miro Kaimuk.
The restaurant is located in the space which formerly housed Honolulu’s venerable Café Miro for 23 years. Chef Trevor Webb, formerly of popular Los Angeles restaurant Kismet, will be the Chef de Cuisine. Justin Park from Honolulu’s acclaimed Bar Leather Apron and forthcoming Bar Mazē will create and oversee the cocktail menu. Similar to its predecessor, Miro Kaimuki will feature a French-inspired menu punctuated with Japanese flavors and techniques. The restaurant is a reunion for chefs Kajioka and Lahlou who first worked together at San Francisco’s Aziza and Mourad.
