Saba Rock Resort
British Virgin Islands
With a reputation that far exceeds its modest size, Saba Rock (located in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda) boasts not only a famous over the water lounge bar and restaurant, but also an 8 bedroom hotel, 10 slip marina, gift shop, gardens and sun deck. The boutique hotel, which is consistently ranked among the top hotels in the BVI, is accessible via a 10 minute ferry ride from Virgin Gorda.
In September 2017, Hurricane Irma – the strongest ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean, with wind gusts reaching 215mph – ripped through this chain of lush islands, leaving them scorched and bare. Just two weeks later, another Category 5 hurricane – Maria – followed. When the winds died down, more than 80% of buildings on the BVIs’ main island of Tortola were destroyed or seriously damaged, and its vital tourist industry was decimated.
Saba Rock reopened in October 2020 with seven stylish rooms and two suites, two bars and an open-air restaurant that has already welcomed Sir Richard Branson from his home on neighboring Necker Island.

Buena Vista Café
San Francisco, California
The historic venture started on the night of November the 10th in 1952. Jack Koeppler, then-owner of the Buena Vista, challenged international travel writer Stanton Delaplane to help re-create a highly touted “Irish Coffee” served at Shannon Airport in Ireland. Intrigued, Stan Accepted Jack’s invitation, and the pair began to experiment immediately.
Throughout the night the two of them stirred and sipped judiciously and eventually acknowledged two recurring problems. The taste was “not quite right,” and the cream would not float. Stan’s hopes sank like the cream, but Jack was undaunted. The restaurateur pursued the elusive elixir with religious fervor, even making a pilgrimage overseas to Shannon Airport.
Upon Jack’s return, the experimentation continued. Finally, the perfect-tasting Irish whiskey was selected. Then the problem of the bottom-bent cream was taken to San Francisco’s mayor, a prominent dairy owner. It was discovered that when the cream was aged for 48 hours and frothed to a precise consistency, it would float as delicately as a swan on the surface of Jack’s and Stan’s special nectar.
Success was theirs! With the recipe now mastered, a sparkling clear, six-ounce, heat-treated goblet was chosen as a suitable chalice. Soon the fame of the Buena Vista’s Irish Coffee spread throughout the land. Today, it’s still the same delicious mixture, and it’s still the same clamorous, cosmopolitan Buena Vista. Both…delightful experiences.
Napa Valley Burger Company
Sausalito, California
From the wine country decor and red brick walls to the gourmet burgers and fine wines, the Napa Valley Burger Company® experience is both appetizing and inviting. Bring your family and friends – there is something for everyone!
Sit back and take in the scenery, as the Napa Valley Burger Company® is in the oldest brick building in Sausalito! Built in 1885 by Fred Fiedler, it was known as “Fiedlers General Store.” During the 1940’s it became the “Glen Five and Ten.” In 1981 it opened as “Winships Restaurant” as a soda fountain and sweet shop, which later changed into a breakfast, lunch, and dinner house with a nautical theme. A larger kitchen was built in the back of the original single floor brick building along with a second floor clapboard addition. Thirty years later, in 2012 it was transformed into the “Napa Valley Burger Company®”.
Located in the heart of downtown, the Napa Valley Burger Company® brings a taste of the Napa Valley to historic Sausalito by the Bay. Come in, relax and enjoy our fine wines and gourmet burgers while reliving a part of history. We pledge to carry on the legacy of our past with a focus on good food and friendly service.
